Isn't Clippy sort of famous for really poorly understanding the user's intent, and offering harmful or useless suggestions in practice?
If you're of a Yudkowsky-style "rationality is the art of winning" type, and more generally of the opinion that rationality involves increasing human wisdom (that is, the ability to weigh options, interpret evidence, and decide upon the best possible course to achieve some set of declared ends), then Clippy seems rather ironic.

I'm not really of that type. To me rationality itself is what matters even at the expense of long term existence of humanity in the sense that I absolutely can't care less about human reproduction. At the very minimum Clippy is an efficient optimizer. I don't want a Clippy-dominated world. However I don't want a world dominated by irrational humans either. Instead I desire a transhumanist world. |
